KISATI TAKES OFF!

It brings me great joy to share Kisati is off and running!  Last week the storytelling and illustration workshop began with 16 participants, 13 in attendance, led by two gifted teachers, Dalia Murra from Bethlehem and Osama Awwad from Beit Sahour.  Dalia and Osama are co-leading the first few classes in order for everyone to get to know each other, build trust, and establish relationships.  Osama will introduce the children to storytelling through the arts of theatre and writing.  Dalia then will guide the participants in expressing themselves through various forms of illustration.

Rami and the selection team were thrilled to receive dozens of applications from Palestinian children all over Palestine, Jerusalem, and Israel.  This round of the workshop, we agreed to focus our attention locally, on youth from Bethlehem and its surrounding villages and refugee camps.  We decided this in the hope that sometime in the coming months the teachers and participants will be able to meet in person.  For now, we will be conducting the workshop virtually.  We hope for future opportunities to offer storytelling workshops to more children, from a broader area, and totally in person!

I look forward to keeping you up to date on the workshop with stories and photos.  Again, THANK YOU for your tremendous support of Kisati.  You have made this life-transforming opportunity a reality for our beloved Palestinian neighbors.

With much joy, gratitude, and hope,
Katie
